Are You Confused about Diets?
When it comes to diets, there is more confusion than there is clarity. We really don’t know anymore what to do. The message for today might say, to eat more meat, tomorrow, less is better, and the day after we might read, to stay away from it altogether. Next time it is, less fat, more fat, eat eggs, don’t eat eggs, drink milk, don’t drink milk and so on. And that’s not all. We also have to eat smaller portions, (that’s a good idea). Another way is to eat only small helpings of food several times during the day. Yet another source claims you should eat no more than 3 meals a day, period. And so it goes on and on. Are you confused…. I bet you are….but there is hope.
Common Sense..?
I always come back to common sense, listen to your body. it tells You loud and clear what agrees and what disagrees with You. I emphasised “You“, as I believe what is true for You is not necessarily true for someone else.
We are individual beings, with individual likes and dislikes and different metabolisms. Even when you eat exactly the same food as the people next to you, you might get an allergic reaction while they could experience a totally different reaction to the same food or maybe none at all.
Follow Your Instinct
Coming back to the first paragraph, we really have to make our own decisions, otherwise, we will be confused forever.
I believe that most of us know instinctively what is good and what is bad for us. Going from that premise, we subsequently have a great start. Therefore, we know that fruit, vegetables, and nuts are definitely good for us. So, we’ve got that one in the bag already, or do we? No, not really. Although we might be aware of the fact that those three categories are good for us, that doesn’t mean that everyone likes them. Some individuals may even have cause for concern of some of these, in particular, peanuts. But as you well understand, I am talking general, as the majority of people worldwide would eat and like those three categories, because as a species we have eaten them since the dawn of humankind.
Prehistoric Humans
Prehistoric men did indeed mainly eat nuts, greens, and fruits. But he also hunted animals and must have eaten meat with great delight. At the same time, it would have given them a boost of iron plus a good feed. In a practical way, it would also supply them with fur and skin for warm clothing and the bones could be made into needles and weapons. Nevertheless, meat must have always been something special for them as it was much harder to come by compared to the fruits of the land, which only had to be gathered.
The Main Staple
From that point of view, we can clearly see that fruit, vegetables, and nuts have always been the main staple for humans. Furthermore, they would have eaten most of their food in the raw state, and that in turn would have given them all the goodness that was available in their food. In the process of cooking, heating, and frying, we kill a lot of the important enzymes and vitamins.
Become Healthier
So it leaves me to say, that we would all be healthier, if we eat a greater proportion of raw food, a good percentage to go by is approx. 65 to 75%.
You don’t really have to go overboard with any particular diet, as long as you use the before mentioned COMMON SENSE, you’ll be fine. (Although Common Sense doesn’t seem to be so Common). And while you are enjoying your food, consider the fact, what it’s actually doing to your – Health – Wellbeing – Longevity. Is that worthwhile THINKING about…???
